Peter pinches pennies for a living. The Texas industry veteran spends his business days managing cost reduction projects for companies around the world, helping corporations find extra profit where others couldn’t. With his Blackberry 8830 World Edition smartphone on the Sprint network, his 1,500-plus stored business contacts depend on his guidance for cost-saving strategies. Juggling that many contacts, not to mention the new calls, can be a little hectic.
“Our phones are very important because we are constantly on the road between clients and vendors,” Peter said. “A lot of times, we’ll be in the middle of a phone call and another call will come in. If I don’t recognize the number, I usually ignore the call. Sometimes I put the current call on hold and go back and forth between the two. To be honest, I tend to screw that part up and hang up on both people. The perfect situation would be if I could look at my cell phone later and decide whether or not to call someone back without bothering to check voicemail.”
Privus Mobile ® helped make Peter’s choice of how to handle calls a lot easier. After a simple download of the mobile Caller ID service to his Blackberry, Peter was able to see all the names and numbers on previously unknown calls. He especially enjoys Privus Mobile’s feature that enables him to save the new caller’s name and number to his contact list without having to key in the entries. Just one push and it becomes entry No. 1,756.
Peter primarily uses the mobile Caller ID service for call-screening. “Even though I’m on the national no-call list, I can’t tell you how many times I get people calling and trying to get me to contribute to an organization or political campaign,” he said. “What happens is my office phone, which is not on the no-call list, gets forwarded to my cell phone, so I end up seeing a lot of those types of calls.”
Peter’s even had some personal gain with the service. If it hadn’t been for Privus Mobile ®, he said he might not have returned the call from his West Coast nephew about the young man catching an earlier flight to visit Peter. Luckily, Uncle Peter took the call and picked his nephew up on time.
Peter is one of the few Privus Mobile ® customers that can say he’s been on both sides of the fence. After having the service for a month, his Blackberry crashed and needed to be reformatted. Fortunately for him, it was only a short while. “I started realizing that I wasn’t receiving the caller’s information anymore, so I went back and re-downloaded the service. It was one of those instances where you didn’t realize you missed it until it was gone.”
